How They Actually Work

An oil filled radiator heats a diathermic oil inside sealed columns. The metal body becomes the radiator. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach full output, but it keeps throwing heat for 20 to 30 minutes after you cut the power. That thermal mass is the whole point. For a bedroom or office where you want steady, silent heat, oil wins. For a garage or workshop where you need heat now, convection wins.

Wattage Math You Should Know

Standard rule: 100W per square meter for average insulation, 8 to 9 foot ceilings. A 2,000W unit covers roughly 20 square meters. A 1,500W covers 15.
